New York City has done it again under Mayor Zohran Mamdani, turning a controversial “cash for syringes” pilot program into a permanent fixture funded by taxpayers.
After quietly slipping the initiative into the city’s massive 126 billion dollar budget, Mamdani’s administration allocated millions to pay addicts for turning in used needles.
Critics say the move rewards drug use and makes a mockery of real recovery efforts.
